Brewly Beer Olympics

The Brewly Beer Olympics is a collaborative homebrew competition that encourages homebrewers to go beyond beer as a beverage and explore a country or region’s beer culture. Food, presentation, labels, serving style, dress are options that homebrewers could consider, though they are certainly not limited to these. While the competition is run by the Brewly Homebrew Club, anyone - club member or not - can participate.
2026 Sign Up
The Competition:
- Homebrewers will be encouraged to pair up and form teams. We will have teams sign up prior to the March Club Meeting.
- Countries/Regions will be selected by teams at the March Club Meeting on March 17, 2026. Depending on the number of teams, there may be more/less countries available. If no one from your team can attend the meeting, we will draw for you.
- Once a country/region is assigned to a team, the team will be tasked with brewing a beer and creating a beer-centric experience that represents their respective country/region.
- Beer (required): Style guidelines such as the BJCP or Brewers Association break out styles by area/country of origin. While these guidelines are a good place to start, homebrewers shouldn’t feel constrained to make a style defined in the guidelines.
- Food (optional): This could be food that pairs well with the beer, food that showcases an ingredient also found in the beer, food that is culturally consumed while beer drinkin’, etc.
- Presentation (optional): The limit is your imagination here. Maybe you draw Germany and dress up in lederhosen. Maybe you draw the USA, brew a hazy IPA, and charge $20 a pour. Who’s to say?
- Serving Style (optional): Maybe you draw England and call Corey to ask if you can borrow his cask. Maybe you’re Jon and you serve your beer out of a side pull regardless of style. Lots of options here.
Countries/Regions:
- The number of countries/regions represented will depend on the number of teams participating. An example list is shown below, though this is subject to change.
- Australia/New Zealand
- Belgium/France
- Brazil
- Canada
- Czech Republic
- England
- Germany/Austria
- Ireland/Scotland/Wales

Awards:
- The tasting, voting, and the medal ceremony will take place Friday, June 26th from 6 to 10pm at The Cleveland Brew Shop (rear yard space).
- Friends and family are all welcome and encouraged to join!
- Teams are responsible for “performing” on behalf of their country. This includes:
- Pouring their homebrewed beer
- Creating an overall atmosphere that represents their country’s beer culture (food, presentation, labels, serving style, etc. – all optional but encouraged)
- Attendees will have the opportunity to vote for the winners. Individual team members will be able to vote, though not for their own team.
- There will be two categories to vote for:
- Best Beer: Voting will be based solely on the beer a team produces. The winner will get a fabulous prize.
- Best Overall. Voting will consider the overall experience/atmosphere created by a team. First, second, and third place will get gold, silver, and bronze medals, respectively.
